Claire Lee
To the world
I am yellow
I am short with black hair
My nose bridge is too low
Without plastic I am not pretty
To the world all I am worth
Is instant ramen and rice
Kimchi and dumplings
But the other foods I eat?
Disgusting and smelly
To the world
I am too “well-off” to face discrimination
And people can call me ching chong and ling ling
Yet my face can be bashed because I am “diseased”
Sorry, it’s my fault there is a pandemic
To the world
All my culture has is
Kpop and movies
Hot men and cute ladies
But, of course, no history
To the world
I want to beg that
You’d show some sympathy
And fight for equality, regardless
Of my country
